Dr. Courtney Prusmack
Board Vice President
Boulder County Manager of Equity, Diversity, & Inclusion
(She/Her/Ella)
My name is Courtney. I have lived, studied, and worked in many corners of the world and across the USA. I grew up mostly in Connecticut, New York and California. My ancestors are white Polish-Jewish and white Irish Catholic. I believe education is the practice of freedom and am passionate about building bridges to (re)humanize education, especially for students who identify as Black, Indigenous and of Color. I know there is tremendous community cultural wealth and brilliance that Black, Indigenous and People of Color (BIPOC) bring into every space. My intention is to help M.I.C. achieve their mission for BIPOC students to gain access to higher educational music programs and thrive in becoming their fullest vision for themselves.
Most of my career has been in public education, specifically in the roles of: paraprofessional, teacher, instructional coach, and school & district administrator. I have also been a server and international trainer for the Hard Rock Cafe, a medical receptionist, a street artist, and more. All of my work centers on transformational racial equity, inclusion & liberation. Recently, I earned my doctorate in executive leadership for educational equity at the University of Colorado, Denver. I am a mama to a beautiful forever teenager, Marley Joy, and many animals.
